Diabetes is a disease that occurs when the balance between glucose production and its consumption by the body, fails. Glucose, an essential fuel for cell function, comes from the food that it´s consumed and accesses to cells with the help of insulin, a hormone produced by the pancreas. Sedentary lifestyle, smoking and obesity favor its appearance. There are two types of diabetes: I and II. The first is characterized by a null production of insulin; the second, because the production of this hormone is insufficient. 90% of diabetics, suffer the type II.
