Krakatoa Volcano

The Krakatoa volcano explosion in August 1883 was the largest natural outbreak in history. Located between Java and Sumatra, on the volcanic island of the same name, the volcano opened a crater with 250 meters of diameter, throwing ash columns up to 55 km high. Subsequent tsunamis raised waves up to 40m high. Volcanic activity continued and in 1930 a new volcanic cone appeared, creating the Anak Krakatoa, which entered a devastating eruption in December 2018. This infographic from the Ábaco collection is integrated into the Volcanoes series, which also includes the original titles: The Earth's Crust, Anatomy, Eruption and Vesuvius in Pompeii.
