Seismic Zones
Earthquakes are especially destructive in areas where high seismic activity and high population density coincide. Where an active fault is found there will be a seismic zone. These fractures are especially located near the mid-oceanic, mountain and ridge chains. Unfortunately, many towns settled in regions near these places to become, when the earthquake strikes, places of catastrophe. The most vulnerable regions of the world are also close to the places where tectonic plates collide. This infographic from the Ábaco collection corresponds to the Catastrophes series, to which the following original titles also belong: Tsunamis, Deep Tear, Elastic Waves and Measure an Earthquake.
