Earthquake
Annually more than 56.000 earthquakes occur; only 0.0002% reaches 8 points on the Richter scale. The movement of tectonic plates is the main cause of earthquakes. In their collisions, energy is generated that is released when the rocks that have accumulated it, can no longer bear the tension and this energy emerges through the weakest places in the Earth's crust, causing an earthquake. This infographic from the Ábaco collection corresponds to the Catastrophes series, to which the following original titles also belong: Tsunamis, Elastic Waves, Risk Areas and Measure an Earthquake.
