Metamorphosis

Metamorphosis is the change in form that insects undergo as they grow. A complete metamorphosis, like that of butterflies, consists of four phases: egg, larva (or caterpillar), chrysalis (or pupa) and butterfly (or adult). In its larval stage, the caterpillar, which continues to feed, molts and increases size up to five times. In the chrysalis phase, the insect, wrapped in a cocoon, undergoes a great internal transformation from which it will emerge with the appearance of an adult specimen. This infographic from the Ábaco collection, belongs to the Invertebrates series, which also include the originally titled infographics: Spiders, Insects, Sucking and stinging and Crustaceans.
