The Pteranodon was one of the largest members of the order of pterosaurs, flying reptiles of the Cretaceous period that lived in North America. With an average weight of 50 kg, its wings had a wingspan of 6 m. Endowed with a long toothless beak, they are believed to have been piscivores. The male was endowed with a large crest. The largest pterosaurs found so far belong to the azhdarchid family and reached 11 m in height.
